Elise Reed bounced back from her first loss and aims to keep the wins coming at UFC Vegas 55.
UFC Vegas 55 features the return of a former champion Holly Holm taking on a top contender on Ketlen Vieira in the women’s bantamweight division. Looking across the card, there are several prospects that fans should keep an eye on. One of them is Elise Reed and she’s the fighter to watch.
Reed, fighting out of Princeton, New Jersey, is making her third appearance in the Octagon. When she first joined the UFC, she took a short notice bout against Sijara Eubanks in July of 2021. That fight didn’t go in her favor as Eubanks finished Reed within the first round. She’s since recovered, defeating Cory McKenna via split decision in March.
Reed came into the UFC as a top prospect from the Northeast. Even before joining the UFC, she had already competed for major organizations, with her debut occurring in October of 2019 at Bellator 231. From Bellator, she then went to Cage Fury Fighting Championships, where she picked up three wins from 2020 to 2021 and a championship months before signing to the UFC.
Reed is set to face off against Sam Hughes at UFC Vegas 55.
Sam Hughes looks for her second UFC win
Hughes comes into this fight riding a bit of momentum. She last competed back just over a month ago where she defeated Istela Nunes via a majority decision. Before that, she had lost three fights in a row since joining the UFC in December of 2020 in a short notice fight against Tecia Torres.
Before that, her biggest exposure to the fight community was the 1-1 record she put together in LFA. Hughes brings a 6-4 professional record into this fight.
