Predicting who will hold the UFC title in each division at the end of 2022
Who will be the champions of the UFC at the end of 2022?
Predictions, they’re impossible to get right. Especially when it comes to the world of mixed martial arts. Think about it, in one year we saw Dustin Poirier roast Conor McGregor, twice, the Diaz brothers get absolutely walked, and Amanda Nunes fell in an upset of a lifetime. MMA is crazy to predict, especially when you’re not just looking at the immediate future.
So we’re not. We decided we’d do our best and go beyond the immediate future to try and predict the champions of the UFC at the end of the year. We’re talking about looking past the next 12 months to Jan. 1, 2023, and trying to predict, the outcomes of not just one or two fights but dozens if not hundreds of fights until we find a champion for each division. Some predictions are going to be as simple as looking at the next fight on a person’s docket and going “that one!”
Others may have to win one or two fights to get a title shot and then, of course, actually win the title. This is the type of deep-level commitment one needs to expect a fighter to contend for a title. It is not something that comes lightly and it isn’t something that is guaranteed either. So you have to think that person has a legitimate shot at getting to a title fight in a calendar year.
That’s why these predictions are both of sound mind and spirit; for the most part. No big reaches here. Sure, there may be one or two picks based more on fandom than facts on this list but the list as a whole features the obvious contenders of the UFC. Just with a little bit of unpredictability thrown in for color and spice.
So with that, let’s take a look at who we think will be the champion of every UFC weight class by the end of 2022.
