Conor McGregor reveals how many fights are left on UFC contract

Conor McGregor took to social media to reveal information about his current contract with the UFC.

Former UFC lightweight champion, Conor McGregor took to Twitter on Saturday to do a question-and-answer session with fans. There were a number of interesting tidbits that came out during the discussion, including details about his current contract with the UFC.

“I have two fights left on my contract,” McGregor wrote when asking about the potential of him starting his own promotion. “I’d love to be with the UFC for life. I am the UFC! We shall see.”

UFC contract statuses are a topic that isn’t often broached in the public eye, especially with high-profile names such as McGregor. In September of 2018 McGregor signed a six-fight deal with the promotion, which included an interesting benefit of his whiskey brand, Proper Twelve, being included as a sponsor every time he steps into the Octagon.

Since then, four of those fights have occurred with McGregor going 1-3 in that run, being finished in each of those defeats. He’s dropped two fights to Dustin Poirier, and one to Khabib Nurmagomedov, while picking up a victory over Donald Cerrone.

Who will Conor McGregor fight when he returns?

Several names have popped up as potential opponents for McGregor’s return as he recovers from the leg injury suffered at UFC 264. Competitors such as Michael Chandler continue to campaign for the fight, while McGregor has hinted that he intends to fight for the title upon his return. But he has shown interest in a potential fight against the former Bellator champion.

Chandler last competed at UFC 268 where he and Justin Gaethje put on a thrilling, three-fight battle to open up the main card. Before that he and Charles Oliveira competed for the lightweight title at UFC 262 where Oliveira became champion via second-round stoppage.
