Bellator 270: New champion Patricky Pitbull drops Peter Queally for KO finish (Video)

Patricky “Pitbull” Freire follows brother’s footsteps with KO finish.

Patricky “Pitbull” Freire defeated Peter Queally via a second round KO at Bellator 270 on Nov. 5, 2021 live from Dublin, Ireland.

The Dublin crowd was absolutely electric, singling along to “Zombie” Queally’s walkout and then carrying it on through the fight. Hometown advantage and a previous win under his belt were on the Irishman’s side.

The fight was reminiscent of their first encounter with Queally landing kicks and Freire going for the body. The first round was close and it looked like we might be in for a long night and a judge’s nightmare.

Round two began and an accidental eye poke to Freire stalled the fight early on. Freire wanted to doctor and he added some sort of drops to Freire’s eyes before allowing the fight to continue. They shook hands and then went right back to it. Freire dropped Queally with a left hook and then finished him off with a barrage of strikes to shock the Dublin crows and become the new Bellator champion.

The fighters were meeting for the second time, having fought once before at Bellator 258 in May 2021. The first fight ended in controversy when Freire was deemed unable to fight on due to a cut. Queally was awarded the win then.

Patricky’s brother Patricio relinquished the title in order to allow his brother a chance at becoming a Bellator champion.
