Is Bellator 269 live or on tape delay?
Find out if Bellator 269 is live or will be shown via tape delay on Saturday.
Bellator 269 is headlined by Fedor Emelianeko and Tim Johnson on Saturday. The heavyweight encounter will take place in Moscow, Russia, which is Emelianeko‘s home country.
The fight will air at a special time of 3 p.m. ET in the U.S. and will be broadcast live on Showtime for the statewide audience. Luckily, there will be no tape delay and we will see everything live.
The event will have subsequent re-airings Saturday evening and at the beginning of next week for those who miss the live broadcast.
How did Fedor Emelianeko and Tim Johnson get here?
Emelianeko dominated the heavyweight division for the better part of a decade. Names like Kevin Randleman, Mark Coleman, Brett Rogers, and Mirko Cro Cop were just a few of the many victims that Emelianeko conquered during his reign at the top of the sport.
He eventually suffered a few losses in a row, most notably to Fabricio Werdum and Dan Henderson in 2010 and 2011. Since then, he has not found the same success and regained his championship form. The bout could end up being Emelianeko‘s last, though it is not official.
As for Johnson, he is 15-7 as a professional and has defeated the likes of Cheick Kongo, Matt Mitrione, and Tyrell Fortune, to name a few.
His most recent bout saw him lose to Valentin Moldavsky in an interim heavyweight title fight in June, as he just missed out on a title shot with the decision loss.
For both men, the fight is at a crossroads. As for Johnson, a victory over Emelianeko could put him right back into position for a title shot. Emelianeko, though, has nothing left to prove, as a win would cap off a legendary career. And there is no better place to do that, than his home country of Russia.
Bellator 269 takes place on, Oct. 23, live from VTB Arena in Moscow, Russia. Follow along with FanSided for all your news and highlights.
