Randy Brown confirms ‘big toe snapped out of place’ at UFC Vegas 39 (Video)

Randy Brown battled through the pain at UFC Vegas 39 after dislocating his big toe in the opening round against Jared Gooden.

Welterweight Randy Brown has won four of his last five fights following his clear-cut decision win at UFC Vegas 39. The fighter out of New York put on a stellar performance — beating his opponent to the punch at nearly every turn.

Brown fought through adversity early in this fight after suffering a toe injury. Many wondered what the exact injury was and when it occurred, but Brown cleared it all up.

“Yeah it just snapped out of place,” Brown told reporters after the fight. “The big toe snapped out of place at the joint kind of high up on the foot there. But it kept going back in, I kept putting it back in. It was an interesting experience.”

Having his father watch him meant everything to Randy Brown

For the first time ever, Brown’s father was able to watch his son compete and it’s a moment that Brown is cherishing.

“It means everything that was cool, that was huge man,” he began, “He had called me literally right before the fight. When I got here, he called me and I was able to talk to him. He’s excited, he prayed for me, he prayed for my opponent, and it meant a lot. I’m happy that he got to see me living on the right side of the law.”

Brown is 8-4 since entering the UFC in 2016, and he’s currently in the midst of his most successful stretch to date. His victory at UFC Vegas 39 may have been enough to warrant him a matchup with a ranked opponent in his next outing.
