DWCS: Albert Duraev shows off stellar grappling in first-round submission win (Video)

Middleweight prospect Albert Duraev shocked UFC president Dana White with a quick submission of Caio Bittencourt during Week 3 of Dana White’s Contender Series.

Middleweight prospect Albert Duraev has big goals and ambitions for his MMA career, and he’s off to a great start with the UFC after likely earning a contract following his first-round submission of Caio Bittencourt on Dana White’s Contender Series.

Duraev dominated from the opening seconds of the bout, getting the fight to the ground and smashing Bittencourt with brutal ground-and-pound while controlling top position. As an exhausted Bittencourt continued to fail to get out of harm’s way, Duraev poured on the pressure and secured a nasty neck crank for the first-round finish.

Duraev came into Week 3 of DWCS on an eight-fight winning streak during a dominant tenure in ACB. After accumulating a 13-3 record, Duraev arrived at the UFC Apex with a goal to make the jump to the highest platform in the sport and coasted to victory and a shot in the UFC.

Bittencourt came into the fight with plenty of momentum as well, winning eight straight fights during tenures in smaller promotions in his native Brazil. Duraev controlled the fight on the ground and made Bittencourt feel completely perplexed by his ground game.

Albert Duraev called out some of the UFC’s best after his big win

Following the main event win during Week 3, Duraev boasted with confidence and called out some of the best fighters in the UFC’s middleweight division. Duraev went as far as asking White for a shot at the champion, Israel Adesanya following his victory.

It’s unclear how soon Duraev will get his first shot in the UFC, but it could come sooner rather than later. The middleweight division has a terrifying new prospect to deal with going forward.
