Bellator 264: Davion Franklin is the fighter to watch

Undefeated Bellator heavyweight Davion Franklin returns to the octagon against Everett Cummings at Bellator 264.

Bellator heavyweight Davion Franklin is a one-of-a-kind athlete, growing up as a football player and a wrestler before turning his full focus towards MMA.

As he gets ready to take on Everett Cummings at Bellator 264, it’s safe to say that Franklin made the right decision in pursuing a career in combat sports.

Franklin is undefeated in his professional career and is coming off of three-straight dominant performances in Bellator that has included two vicious knockouts of Tyler King and J.W. Kiser in the cage. The Jackson-Winkeljohn prospect has a bright future in one of Bellator’s most stacked divisions.

Franklin faces a tough test in the form of Cummings; a veteran of the fight game who has been in and out of Bellator over his 15-fight career. He is also undefeated with every single one of his victories coming by either knockout or submission.

If he’s able to get past Cummings, Franklin would establish himself as a real factor in the Bellator heavyweight division. His forward-pushing style can be compared to the likes of UFC heavyweight Derrick Lewis, among others.

This will also be the first time that Franklin will be on the main card in his still relatively inexperienced MMA career. Franklin vs. Cummings will definitely be a fight you won’t want to miss before the middleweight title in the main event between Gegard Mousasi and John Salter.

If his previous fights are any indication, Franklin doesn’t intend on letting Cummings leave the cage undamaged as he looks to continue to climb the ladder in one of the biggest promotions in the sport.

Bellator 264 takes place on Aug. 13, 2021, live from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. Follow along with FanSided for all your live news and highlights.
