Daniel Cormier joins Wimp 2 Warrior as ambassador.

Daniel Cormier has had a long and illustrious combat sports career that has spanned the length of a decade-plus. The former Olympic wrestler has seen his highs and lows in the sport, but his biggest contributions came after the purchasing of Strikeforce in 2013.

Cormier went on to become a light heavyweight mainstay, eventually becoming a champion during Jon Jones’ run-ins with the law. The majority of his legacy, however can be traced to Stipe Miocic.

Their three fights live in heavyweight lore, as Cormier decided to bet on himself and put his title on the line in July 2018 against Miocic. Cormier’s dreams of becoming one of the greatest heavyweights the sport had ever known came true with his knockout of the Ohio native, which led to a memorable trilogy.

Daniel Cormier has built a brand outside of MMA

In his post-fighting ventures, Cormier has built a brand for himself while remaining in the MMA space. He currently serves as a commentator during UFC broadcasts, along with hosting a podcast on ESPN+ with former Super Bowl champion and ex-Pittsburgh Steelers safety, Ryan Clark.

Now, Cormier can add another accomplishment to his extensive portfolio, as he was named a Wimp 2 Warrior brand ambassador. The goal of the organization to help gyms become financially secure, and help empower others to become more physically active. The partnership will also help Cormier’s high school wrestling team, which is based in Gillroy, California, to foster discipline and a solid regime in order to become successful in the years to come.

“Look, anyone who knows me knows how invested I am in teaching,” said Cormier in a press release. “It’s why I coach wresting at Gilroy HS, why I opened up my academy and why I am partnering with W2W.  This program represents everything that is good about martial arts and gives me a chance to give back by being an entry point to men and women who can’t shake that burning question of ‘can I do that?’”

Cormier now joins SBG Ireland’s John Kavanaugh and UFC correspondent Laura Sanko as the first three ambassadors to take on this role.
