Bellator 263: Patricio Pitbull vs. AJ McKee preview and prediction.
The Forum in Los Angeles, CA is the site for what could be one of the biggest fight cards in the promotion’s history as Bellator 263 goes down this Saturday. The event is headlined by the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix final between current featherweight champion Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire and AJ McKee.
The full fight card for the Bellator 263 event is stacked from top to bottom, and there is no shortage of reasons to tune in. Apart from the featherweight championship bout, a potential number one contender’s match-up will take place between multiple title challenger Emmanuel Sanchez, as he takes on the former Cage Warriors featherweight champion Mads Burnell.
In the feature bout, Usman Nurmagomedov makes his second Bellator appearance as he takes on the streaking MMA journeyman Manny Muro. The 23-year-old Nurmagomedov is the cousin of UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov, who has trained under the tutelage of Khabib and his late father Abdulmanap.
Let’s take a look at the monstrous main event for Bellator 263 to find the best angles for picks and predictions.
Patricio Pitbull vs. AJ McKee Bellator 263 prediction
Freire comes into Bellator 263 rated the best pound-for-pound fighter under the promotion’s banner. He takes on the standout, homegrown talent in McKee who has all 17 wins in his career in the Bellator cage. Freire is riding a seven-fight winning streak since losing by way of leg injury to Benson Henderson at Bellator 160 in 2016. Freire is 10-2 over the last six years of his career, with 7 of his last 10 wins coming by way of stoppage.
Both McKee and Freire are tied for most stoppage victories in Bellator featherweight history with 12 each, and a stoppage win for either of these fighters would be history-making. While McKee has looked almost untouchable in his rise to Bellator greatness, he has yet to face an opponent as ferocious and hard-hitting as Freire. When it comes to the betting line, McKee certainly has value as the slight underdog. However, it still seems a little bit premature to be writing off the champion at this point in this career. Freire gets the win.
Prediction: Freire by T/KO
