Bellator 255: Jason Jackson beats out eye injury, edges Neiman Gracie in potential title eliminator

It was a bit of a bizarre outing, but Jason Jackson managed to beat out Neiman Gracie on the scorecards

In spite of some damage to his eyes, especially early on, Jason Jackson managed to overcome that and the grappling of Neiman Gracie to score a decision win in a potential welterweight title eliminator in the co-main event of Bellator 255.

After some feeling out, Jackson pursued a takedown a minute into the fight. But when Jackson got on top, the cage ended up catching him in the eye, leaving him in pain as Gracie managed to reverse position and get on top of Jackson. Gracie had better positioning and did some damage before the doctor checked on Jackson.

After the timeout, Jackson seemed to gain momentum, landing a couple of takedowns on Gracie before the end of the first.

Gracie ended up regaining control with his grappling in the second round, but neither man really landed anything damaging in the frame.

Gracie continued his control in the third, but Jackson — despite another brief doctor’s check — was landing the effective strikes, making the round a complete toss-up.

All three judges scored the bout for Jackson with scores of 29-28.

Bellator 255 took place on Friday, April 2, 2021, live from the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, CT. Follow along with FanSided for all your live news and highlights.
