1 fighter the UFC needs to sign right now

While there are many worthy, this is the fighter the UFC needs to sign.

The UFC is the biggest promotion in all of MMA. With that, the UFC is known to be the home to some of the most talent-rich divisions that are loaded with straight killers. Just look at the top 15 of the lightweight, bantamweight, and featherweight divisions – and that doesn’t even show the rising prospects that lurk behind. The UFC aims to sign fighters who they believe can be the best in the world and they do a pretty good job at that.

At 26 years old, Paddy Pimblett (16-3) is one of the hottest prospects in the sport. Fighting out of Liverpool, England, Pimlett is a lightweight and former champion for the Cage Warriors promotion. Yes, that same Cage Warriors promotion that was once home to Conor McGregor, Michael Bisping, and Joanna Jedrzejczyk. The London-based promotion has repeatedly pumped talent into the UFC over time and Pimblett aims to be next.

Pimblett is ready to take the next step up and put that on full display at Cage Warriors 122 with a submission victory in the first round against Davide Martinez. Scoring finishes in 12 of his 16 wins, Pimblett has proven to not only be one of the most promising prospects outside the UFC, but also one of the most exciting. The dude has a flying triangle finish. He’s a black belt in jiu-jitsu and is already battle-tested in going the full 25 minutes of a championship fight three times.

The record is there, as are the skills, but there is more to Pimblett that the UFC would gain in adding him to their roster – he already has a strong following. Pimblett is the most recognizable name with Cage Warriors and has a strong presence in Europe. Imagine the scenes that would come if the UFC booked Pimblett on a Liverpool fight card sold out in attendance. His homeland loves him, and his character is one that could truly resonate with the general fanbase.

It’s a win-win for the leader in mixed martial arts and an opportunity that Pimblett is completely deserving of. The UFC should sign Paddy Pimblett and let him test himself against the best in the world.
