Michael Chandler’s latest Instagram post will get you excited for UFC 262 or you are dead inside

Michael Chandler may just be perfectly describing how he and Charles Oliveira will feel in the cage at UFC 262.

We’re pretty certain you’ve heard plenty of cliches about champions — how they’re made, how they come through in the heat of the moment, how they stand the test of time. But ahead of his chance to win UFC gold, Michael Chandler gives a motivational post on social media that may make you want to run through a brick wall.

Days following the announcement that he and Charles Oliveira will do battle for the UFC lightweight championship at UFC 262, Chandler took to Instagram to share his thoughts and feelings as he gets ready to do battle.

And it seems he was giving a pep talk to himself — and to the rest of us.

Chandler has championship experience before, winning the Bellator lightweight championship three times while earning status as one of the long-time faces of that promotion.

Chandler, however, left Bellator last year, signing with the UFC in arguably the biggest free-agency move of 2020. And it’s pretty clear how high the UFC and President Dana White are on Chandler, having him be the backup for the Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Justin Gaethje fight at UFC 254.

Chandler officially made his UFC debut in January at UFC 257, scoring an epic, late first-round knockout of Dan Hooker to immediately solidify himself as a top contender in the UFC’s ultra-competitive lightweight division.

Now, Chandler has the chance to win a UFC title in just his second fight, following the confirmation of Nurmagomedov’s retirement. But for Chandler to get to that point, he’ll have to get through one of 155’s hottest combatants in Oliveira.

Oliveira has won eight straight and nine of 10 since his move to lightweight. Oliveira, who has the UFC record for most submission victories, will enter this title contest off a submission of Kevin Lee and a one-sided decision win over Tony Ferguson in 2020.
