Despite a rough start, Bruno Gustavo da Silva scores a highlight knockout.
With his UFC tenure potentially on the line, Bruno Gustavo da Silva got off on the completely wrong foot but managed to score a second-round finish of JP Buys to open up UFC Vegas 22.
In the contest’s opening strike, Silva struck Buys with a kick to the groin, forcing a pause to the action. The first minute didn’t even finish by the time Silva hit Buys with another foul, landing an eye poke.
Silva managed to right the ship, however, and knocked Buys down twice with a pair of rights before unleashing some ground-and-pound.
Buys got back to his feet and fought back, but another right hand put Buys out for good.

This was Silva’s first victory in the UFC. His tenure had been a rough go thus far, getting submitted by Khalid Taha at UFC 243 (before that was overturned to a no-contest) and dropping decisions to David Dvorak and Tagir Ulanbekov in 2020.
UFC Vegas 22 took place on Saturday, March 20, 2021, live from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, NV. Follow along with FanSided for all your live news and highlights.
