5 reasons to watch UFC 259: Jan Blachowicz vs. Israel Adesanya
The UFC has put together a card of fascinating matchups for UFC 259. Here are five reasons you shouldn’t miss it.
UFC 259 features one of the most stacked cards in recent memory. Thanks to some phenomenal matchmaking, fight fans will be treated to three title fights and so much more on March 6 live from the UFC Apex.
While it’s been some time, the UFC will be satisfying those who’ve felt that the promotion hasn’t booked title fights with the right merit in mind lately. All the championship bookings are justified. The main event is a super fight, but it’s an appropriate one. Israel Adesanya has cleared out the middleweight division and it makes sense for his next challenge to be at light heavyweight. Jan Blachowicz is a newly crowned champ of a division without many rightful contenders. Yes, there is the No. 1 ranked Glover Teixeira who’s definitely deserving, but he can be next. Plus, this is an easier sell for the promotion. One that could stuff their pockets if Adesanya is victorious.
The other two title fight matchups were undeniably the ones to make. In the co-main event, it’s the double champ, Amanda Nunes, defending her featherweight belt against the No. 1 ranked featherweight Megan Anderson. Before that, bantamweight champion Petr Yan will look to defend his belt for the first time against No. 1 ranked bantamweight Aljamain Sterling. It doesn’t get much better than champion vs. the top-ranked contender.
Outside the title fights, the matchmaking remains consistent and incredibly intriguing. Two massive top-five ranked light heavyweights will battle it out to start the pay-per-view. Legends like Dominick Cruz and Joseph Benavidez will try to hold their spots in their respective divisions against rising contenders. Prospect fights in the bantamweight and welterweight divisions.
There are plenty, but here are the five most interesting reasons to watch UFC 259.
