UFC Vegas 20: Jon Jones, Francis Ngannou chime in on Ciryl Gane’s win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik
Jon Jones, Francis Ngannou fired their shots during UFC Vegas 20 main event
Ciryl Gane may be a name that the upper echelon of the heavyweight division will now have to become more familiar with, but the performance he and Jairzinho Rozenstruik put on in the UFC Vegas 20 main event left said stars — including Jon Jones — unimpressed. And it sparked a couple of jabs on Twitter between Jones and upcoming heavyweight title challenger Francis Ngannou.
Gane put on an intelligent performance, keeping his distance from Rozenstruik and avoiding his power, which included scoring a couple of takedowns and keeping Rozenstruik clinched up. It was, though, disappointing considering the finishes we’ve seen from Gane in the past.
Rozenstruik, however, seemed to have an even more disappointing, and perhaps, an off night. The power that has helped earn him a high standing in the heavyweight scene was flashed, but he ultimately couldn’t pull the trigger and get much going.

The lackluster main event outing left Jones warning the heavyweight division that there won’t be time for standing and doing nothing when they face him in the Octagon.
Jones, who has dominated the light heavyweight scene in the UFC for the better part of the last decade, announced in August that he’d be vacating the light heavyweight title, intending to make his long-awaited move to the heavyweight division.
But not everyone, namely Ngannou, seemed to take Jones’ warning seriously.
Ngannou will challenge Stipe Miocic for the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 260 on March 27. Miocic won the first fight between the two in January 2018 at UFC 220.

Rozenstruik’s debut year in the Octagon in 2019 saw him score noteworthy finishes over the likes of Junior Albini, Allen Crowder, Andrei Arlovski and Alistair Overeem, going on to win FanSided MMA’s 2019 Rookie of the Year. Rozenstruik hit a roadblock when he was knocked out by Francis Ngannou, but he rebounded with a finish of Junior dos Santos.
Gane also made his UFC debut in 2019, scoring a pair of submission wins over Raphael Pessoa and Don’Tale Mayes, as well as a decision win over Tanner Boser. He last fought at UFC 246, scoring his own finish of dos Santos.
