Chiefs odds dive from +325 to +275

The Kansas City Chiefs are the new Patriots in the AFC. Great coach, great quarterback, and terrific play on both sides of the football.

Kansas City exacted revenge over the only team to beat them this season, the Las Vegas Raiders, with a fantastic 35-31 come from behind victory. In year’s past, nobody would have cared. But this season, the Raiders are one of the top five best teams in the conference.

Las Vegas entered the contest on a 3-game winning streak. They had won 4-of-5, including beating Kansas City 40-32 in overtime. Quarterback Derek Carr had thrown just two interceptions the entire season.

The Chiefs sealed the win with an pick, which speaks volumes about how good KC really is. But the odds change, from +325 to +275, makes Kansas City unplayable.

The defense allows 133.5 rushing yards per game. There’s a good chance that if KC wins the AFC, and that could be a problem, they will face New Orleans, Seattle, or the Rams in the Super Bowl. Those three teams have excellent offenses.

Saints and Steelers maintain at +700 and +500

Speaking of New Orleans, their odds didn’t move at all after Taysom Hill led the Saints to a 24-9 win against the rival Atlanta Falcons. Hill wasn’t perfect. He underthrew a pass that was only successful because Michael Thomas came back for it and he fumbled, again, on a long 25-yard run.

Taysom rushed for two touchdowns and completed 18-of-23, though. Those stats are good enough for Hill to keep his starting job until Drew Brees returns. If Taysom can navigate the Saints through their next three games, all on the road, the Saints’ Super Bowl odds should drop.

Pittsburgh faces off against the rival Ravens on Sunday. The league moved the Thanksgiving Thursday game to the weekend because of COVID positives. If the Steelers beat Baltimore, they could go undefeated this season. Both the Bills and Colts are on the schedule, but the Steelers are good enough to beat those two teams.

Ravens, Bucs, and Packers look like pretenders while the Rams rise

The Colts beat the Packers, handing Green Bay their third loss of the season. Not only did the Packers fall to 7-3, but they are now a game behind New Orleans for homefield advantage in the playoffs.

Baltimore continued its slide. The Ravens dropped their second straight. Lamar Jackson hasn’t had the best season, but Baltimore’s real issue is on the defensive side. The Edgar Allan Poes gave up 30 points to the Titans. Baltimore doesn’t appear good enough to win the Super Bowl.

The L.A. Rams beat the Buccaneers on Monday night. Make the Rams a contender and the Bucs a pretender. When everything goes right for Tampa, they can dominate good teams like the Packers and Raiders.

But the Bucs are down to their third-string center after A.Q. Shipley suffered a season ending injury. It’s tough to protect your 41-year-old quarterback with your third-string center.

The Rams have lost just three games this season. Because LAR plays the Arizona Cardinals twice and the Seahawks one more time after beating Seattle already, the Rams are in charge of their own future. They can win the NFC West and, with some luck, grab a bye.

Have a great weekend!
